When Casiana and Jordi became parents, they decided to move to the mountains of Cataluña so that they could immerse their children in the simplicity of Mother Nature. With a belief that kids need just the right amount of tools and toys to inspire open-ended play, the couple created Grapat, a company that makes wooden figurines designed to spark curiosity, hone fine motor skills and power hours of imaginative play. While handcrafting and hand painting their toys, Grapat uses primarily sustainably sourced wood (from beech or birch trees) as well as non-toxic paints and finishes to achieve colors often found in nature. The finishes are made with vegetable waxes and oils and the colorful dyes, which are all water-based, allow the grain of the wood to show through, thus helping Grapat achieve their mission of children connected with nature. Committed to protecting the environment, they also have 100% plastic-free packaging, which makes them extra special.
